🌟 NYOTA FUND – Unlocking Opportunities for Kenya’s Youth

A Government of Kenya & World Bank Initiative

The NYOTA Fund is a flagship component of the National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) Project, a five-year initiative by the Government of Kenya funded by the World Bank. The programme aims to address youth unemployment, promote savings, and expand economic opportunities for young Kenyans.


About the NYOTA Project

The NYOTA Project seeks to uplift 820,000 unemployed young people across the country, focusing on those aged 18–29 (up to 35 for youth with disabilities) with a Form 4 education level or below.

Through a multi-agency approach coordinated by the State Department for Youth Affairs & Creative Economy, and supported by partners including NSSF and MSEA, the project delivers transformative interventions designed to open pathways to work, enterprise, and financial stability.


Key Interventions

πŸ”§ 1. Apprenticeship & Employment

Providing on-the-job training, mentorship, and certification through the National Industrial Training Authority (NITA) to help youth:

Secure formal employment

Gain artisan skills

Build pathways to self-employment

πŸ’Ό 2. Support for Entrepreneurship

Helping youth start or expand businesses through:

Business development support

Mentorship and coaching

Start-up capital grants (including KSh 50,000 grants)

πŸ’° 3. Youth Savings

Promoting a culture of saving by:

Automatically enrolling beneficiaries into NSSF’s Haba Haba Savings Scheme

Supporting long-term financial inclusion

πŸ“š 4. Capacity Building

Empowering youth with training on:

Accessing Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO)

Leveraging catalytic funds for business growth


Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the NYOTA Project, applicants must:

Be Kenyan citizens

Be aged 18–29, or 18–35 for youth with disabilities (registered with the National Council for Persons with Disability)

Have a Form 4 education level or below

Possess a valid National Identity Card (ID)

Applications are submitted online through the official NYOTA Project website.

Application Steps:

Create an account and complete the registration form

Upload your National ID and required details

Submit and await confirmation from the NYOTA team
